{"id":341526,"date":"2017-03-14T18:22:29","date_gmt":"2017-03-14T22:22:29","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/aadistrict5.org\/?page_id=341526"},"modified":"2024-03-15T05:13:46","modified_gmt":"2024-03-15T09:13:46","slug":"join-the-corrections-committee","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/aadistrict5.org\/?page_id=341526","title":{"rendered":"Join the Corrections Committee"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">HOW CAN YOU HELP?<br \/>JOIN OUR CORRECTIONS COMMITTEE!<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\">JAIL OR PRISON MEETING COMMITMENTS<br \/>Carry the message to the inside.<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Our&nbsp;Corrections Committee provides an exceptionally valuable service to our community by bringing the AA message to incarcerated individuals and groups. &nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Help us carry our experience strength and hope to:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><a style=\"color: #0000ff;\" href=\"http:\/\/aadistrict5.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/08\/2018-0731-County-Jail-Combo-App-and-Procedures.pdf\">2018 0731 County Jail Combo App and Procedures<\/a>:&nbsp;<\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\">County Jail, Punta Gorda, FL<\/span><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><a style=\"color: #0000ff;\" href=\"http:\/\/aadistrict5.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/FL-Dept-of-Corrections-Application.pdf\">FL State Prison Application<\/a>:<\/span> Charlotte Correctional Institution, Punta Gorda FL<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Before being admitted to a corrections facility, AA members are required to apply for eligibility for the County Jail or State Prison; each has its own application process . &nbsp;Please click on the links above for appropriate application forms.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For more information on service commitments or for applications to volunteer, please email: <a href=\"http:\/\/aadistrict5.org\/?page_id=346308\"><strong>corrections@aadistrict5.org<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\">BRIDGING THE GAP<br \/>Connect with AA&#8217;s being released from jail or prison<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><b>&#8220;Bridging the Gap&#8221;<\/b>&nbsp;is a temporary contact program offered by&nbsp;<b>Alcoholics Anonymous<\/b>&nbsp;to persons leaving treatment and re-entering the community.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">This program assists clients who request help finding meetings and rides, making the transition from treatment to the fellowship of&nbsp;<b>Alcoholics Anonymous<\/b>&nbsp;easier- thereby &#8216;bridging the gap&#8217; between treatment and recovery in their community.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">A local&nbsp;<b>AA<\/b>&nbsp;member will volunteer to contact a patient on his\/her discharge date or shortly thereafter to help him\/her find local meetings and start building a support group.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>See the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.aa.org\/bridging-gap\">Bridging the Gap Pamphlet<\/a> for a more detailed explanation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Pamphlet for AA\u2019s on the Outside \u2013 This program connects the AA member being released from jail or prison with Alcoholics Anonymous in their community. Corrections Pre-Release Contact Program&#8221;<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h6 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">CORRECTIONS CORRESPONDENCE FORM \u2013 a special kind of AA Service<\/span><\/h6>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The Corrections Correspondence Service is a Twelfth Step opportunity which links A.A. members on the \u201coutside\u201d with A.A. members in correctional facilities to provide a source of experience as it relates to problems with alcohol. Men are linked with men and women with women.
