District 5 Meetings

Meetings are an essential part of the Alcoholics Anonymous program of recovery. They allow people a chance to come together to share their experience, strength and hope with one another to overcome their common problem of alcoholism.

The Difference Between Open and Closed Meetings
There are  two types of meetings:

  • CLOSED meetings are for those who have a desire to stop drinking. Closed meetings are usually indicated with a “C” on meeting lists; for example CSSD indicates a closed step-study discussion meeting.
  • All are welcome to attend OPEN meetings. Open meetings are usually indicated with an “O” on meeting lists; for example, OS indicates an open speaker meeting. Meeting lists usually have a legend indicating abbreviations for the different type of meetings.

There are no dues or fees required at meetings.

AA has meetings all over the world.  Websites are available to assist you in finding a meeting wherever you are living and/or traveling.

AA District 5 is part of Area 15 (South Florida). Three areas cover Florida:
Area 15 – South Florida
Area 14 – North Florida
