COMPOSITION:
The Chairperson of the Finance Committee is the immediate past District Treasurer. The Committee consists of the current District Treasurer and any A.A. member(s) willing to serve. The District Chairperson is an ex-officio member of this Committee.
SCOPE:
Compares expenditures to budget and/or prior year income and expenses. Reviews un-budgeted requests for funds for Trusted Servants and Standing Committees. Receives requests for funds at budget time. Prepares an annual budget. The Committee is guided by the Twelve Traditions and the Book of Current Practices.
PROCEDURE:
Holds periodic meetings but always in late October or early November. Distributes a Budget Request form to all Officers and Standing Committee Chairs in September (due in October at District 5 Business meeting). Annually prepares the budget and presents it to the District for consideration in November and for approval at the December District Meeting. Is available to assist all Officers and Standing Committee Chairpersons in preparing their budgets. Is available to offer assistance to anyone making a motion affecting the budget in preparing their motion. Presents a report of Committee activities orally at the business meeting and in written form for inclusion in the minutes. Determines the Finance Committee’s financial needs for inclusion in the annual budget.
