CORRECTIONS COMMITTEE:

COMPOSITION: 
All AA Group Corrections Committee representatives and AA members who attend prison and jail meetings are members. They need only be willing to stay sober, carry the message of AA and have at least one year of continuous sobriety.  The Committee Chairperson, Alternative Chairperson and Treasurer are elected from Committee members, by Committee members, for two-year terms, and are presented at District 5 General Service business meeting for approval. The Chairperson (or the Alternate) is responsible for attending all District 5 and Area 15 business meetings. The Chairperson (or the Alternate) attend the Area Corrections meeting and report on District 5 Activities, both orally and by written report and also report back to District 5 at the next District 5 business meeting after the Area Assembly information gathered at the assembly. The Corrections Chairperson (or their Alternate) is funded one night lodging plus $30 for the Banquet when attending the Area 15 Assembly.  Funds are paid when needed, when available. Requirements for Committee Officers: Chairperson, 2 yrs. sobriety and 2 yrs. service on the Committee. Alternate Chairperson, 1 yr. sobriety and 1 yr. service on the Committee. Treasurer, 2 yrs. sobriety and 1 yr. service on the Committee. The election is in October of the odd year. Newly elected take office in January for a 2-year term.


SCOPE:

Offers a forum for members to share their experience in carrying the AA message to jails and prisons, including workbooks, literature, and other AA resources to best accomplish this task.


PROCEDURE:
Holds monthly meetings on the second Saturday of each month at 10am on Zoom to distribute purchased and donated literature, discuss and submit an annual budget request to the District 5 Finance Committee in October of each year and present a monthly oral and written report of Correction Committee activities at the District 5 General Service meeting.  The Zoom ID for the Corrections Commitee Meeting is 987 6511 2013 and the passcode is 5qwPET.
